Personally I would say the best all rounder would be a 3 hook flapper or for distance 3 hook clipdown :wink:

Yup, except I use two hooks rather than three.
From a pier and at very short range I occasionally use a running leger.

Three hook clipped down for distance. Running ledger close in set up for flatties. |

i agree with duncbooth the 3 hook clipdown but sometime i just go with the 2 hook clipdown. |

A good rig in my opinion is a one up one down paternoster, clipped or flapping depending on how far you want to cast it.

For short distance work, I favour the 'one up one down' rig, and for long distance work, the 'bomber' rig. |

A 3 hook continental style rig with a gripper weight not the wired variety... Or for the bigger fish an up and over pennel rig... |
