hi all, have just registered after a few weeks of reading discussions and information on this forum. i'm new to the whole fishing thing, have been thinking about taking it up(sea fishing-beach casting) for a while but a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing, rods, reels, rigs, bait, etc, etc, etc. when i was fishing as a lad(sounds really old) in far distant shores, we rarely had rods, mainly we made up fishing lines usually with used spark plugs. i live in leigh and have been trying to find out as much as i can in the past few weeks, i've probably pestered you if you had been fishing in leigh or 2 tree island, asking lots of silly questions. i recognised PaulS post about fishing on 2 tree island with hi sons, i think i was there on that day with my dog and family. i am reading up stuff on the matter before launching into purchasing the gear but cant wait to get fishing.

ps. have tried to post earlier, but it does not appear to have registered, so if it turns up, sorry for the repeat.

I'm sure someone that lives in your area Patric would offer a trip out and the loan of a rod and reel to allow you to get the feel of things.

Anyone one on here help the man out??

Welcome Patrick S. We're not planning a Southend jaunt in the near future, but next time we are, I'll give you a shout. I'm sure we've got a bit of spare kit between us.

If you're looking for bits and pieces, try Petes tackle on Rochford Avenue (down towards airport from bell lights). He's very reasonable and very good for advice.
