Whatever someone recommends, someone else will say it's cr*p, but I reckon Diawa gear takes some beating. Try and get hold of catalogues or search the Internet and don't be afraid to consider second hand stuff. An old-ish Diawa Moonraker rod will get you started together with an appropriate multiplier or fixed spool. Choose "known" names like Diawa, Shakespeare etc.

Never mind it was interesting reading your thoughts anyway Stu. Must say I have to agree. Only ever bought Shakespeare, Daiwa and Zziplex rods and not been dissappointed with any of 'em. P.s. Feel like I know you already.  |
