Newbie looking for advice

Hi guys. I'm new to sea fishing and i've currently been fishing at Holmpton (between Withernsea and Patrington) but aren't having any luck! Been using squid, sprats, mackerel fillets and black rag but have blanked every time! My technique is lacking something so any advice would be great. Thanks

As I posted in a prior topic, make sure your bait is secure on the hook and well presented, you dont want to cast it out for it to hit the water and fish with no bait on your hook winking

,sometimes bait elastic is a good option. There is also no point in having a very small hook with a huge bait masking the hook barb winking

A good alround hook size is 1 or 1/0 and if matched with the right size bait you should not go far wrong, thats actually if there are any fish about that is happy

These are just a few common mistakes sea anglers make when new to the sport.

The other thing that I may add is that you dont try to cast to the horizon as most fish at this time come in to about 30 to 50yds especially the flatties like plaice, dabs and flounder.
