How is best way to care and look after bait, ie raggies and worms. having spent £12 on bait firday morning at Brid. i changed the newspaper that they where wrapped in twice, only to find that when i arrived at Brid to do an all niter, 70% of bait had died or turned to pulp...so instead of having a good nite fishing, it turned into a nitemare. Yet ive just seen on another forum thats its ok to change paper on bait,,, Rang debbie in Brid @ turnstones and she told me that one must never change paper on raggies or worms. so am now confused to what to do for best, as for the fishing ,well gear is in yard and cant face looking at it or putting it away. |

aways check your bait ragworms will go white or grey on the tail end then do not buy them as they will kill the rest if you have any left put them in a bit of garden peat then wrap in paper you can rewrap them if you want i change the paper every day and remove any dead worms it seems to me the shop sold you a load of duff worms find another bait shop |

Doesnt sound that nice but storing the worm in the fridge and changing paper if it gets damp works great just remember to take them out and have a quick look each day to see if there are any damaged or dead worm. Worm kept in warm conditions in paper is not going to last very long.
cheers

Not sure how to help you with that one mate. I ether buy worm frozen or dig it fresh. There is loads of tips in sea fishing magazines on how to keep freshly dug worms alive for weeks. You have to clean them as you dig em and leave them in trays of fresh sea water in a fridge. Check them every day and take out any dead ones before they spoil the rest. I do know that you HAVE to keep live bought ones in the fridge though mate. Helps if you have a fridge just for bait though. Very wife friendly! A friend of mine just bought a couple of lb's worms from Wales. Cost him over £20 with next day delivery and the shop posting them put ice packs in the parcel to keep the worms fresh, but royal mail were a day late with the delivery and all he got was a box of warm mush! |
