After some thought, and getting round wife and daughter. am doing my first all nite fishing session at bridlington south wall. I know forecast not looking to brill, but am willing to take the chance. Have to admit after only fishing for 4 months, didnt think i'd end up doing an all niter. Only snag have to go to brid early in morning to collect bait. Am going to use worms, raggies and razor. So hope to put report on either saturday or sunday I how i get on.

Sorry for late posting on fishing at brid , friday nite / saturday morning. 8/9th May. was a quiet nite, only 4 fishing on south wall. total catch was 3 whiting, 2 plaice, 4 dabs, 6 rocking and two crabs.. I could'nt put report on sooner as i done back in on the saturday nite 9th May, so been laid up flat on back for almost a week.
As it was full moon that nite, does it have effect on fishing?
All catch was returned safe and soundly.

Hi Squidhead,

Well done on the fish mate and sorry 2 hear bout your back.....hope its better soon.

Full moon is the indicator for spring tides which are normally the best times to fish.....allthough I prefer the first 3 and last 3 tides before and after the full spring.

Every area fishes differently and the cycle of tides/weather and season all make a big difference throughout the year so local knowlage/and personal experiance and a bit of planning can all help you catch.

Moon light is a great debate topic and Ive heard some really wierd and funny explenations of why people have or have not caught all due to the moonlight

If the sea is coloured as it usually is around big estuaries the moonlight factor has little or no effect.

In clear seas it can have a great effect for preditors such as Bass/Ray/Turbot ect ect.....but the cod dont really like a bright moon but there are no set and solid rules .

Personally I do enjoy a nice bright full moon and it normally means calm weather and you know you are fishing spring tides......watch out for moon burn though........it can be dangerous......always use a moon cream and dont stare at the moon for too long as people will probably think your a little wierd........never howl or grow hair either.....very bad laughing laughing rolling on the floor rolling on the floor

Hope this helps mate
