Many sea anglers do put a downer on sea fishing mags from time to time , I guess sometimes they do have a fair case too, ie: same content over and over again etc. I think when starting out they all purchased them at some point , They still offer a wealth of information for the beginner to the sport with rig building, baits and tips on the varius venues.
cheers

Ive learn a lot from sea angler mag, and also this site,as only been fishing since Jan this yr. Without this site and sea angler mag, reckon i would have struggled to learn how to do basic sea fishing and so on. |

My thoughts on sea angling mags is that they should be free cosidering all the ads they carry and the revenue generated by the same. What do we find instead price rises.
I refuse to buy them and that goes for a few folk I know

it helps alot of bigeners get the idea of what is needed and it has some quality info in also it has tackle shops and what they are selling inside keeping the tackle shops earning money with out this im sure there would be alot more tackle shops closing just like castle foot tackle did in scarbs cause she could not afford the lease anymore so dont go saying bad things when they are keeping the tackle shops going

i have got mates that own tackle shops and its most certainly not a magazine that keeps them open ,i think you will find that due to internet sales ,ebay and tackle suppliers keeping prices high along with the cost of rates ,taxes etc etc this is where they get hit hardest ,its also down to the magazines as the big shops can afford to advertise which then converts itself to sales as rather than pay a few quid more local we would order from a bigger shop now we are all guilty of that one ,the way my mates keep their shops open is by supplying fresh bait to other shops mail order and even on ebay its a better profit than the few quid they can earn on a tournament casting reel trust me i have seen the figures ,i agree some people will gain vast knowledge from some of the articles as i did when i first started reading them THE COD |

I know my reply was a bit controversal but come on, be honest, get out your mag, any of them and count the pages that are free of any advert and I bet you will find that 75% of the mag carries ads.
Dispense with the adverts and what do you end up with? Ill tell you. A thinner magazine full of information that is helpful to the novice and the seasonal fisherperson and a hell of a lot of trees that could be saved.
And maybe, just maybe your local tackle dealer staying open.
Cheers

As not many replies have said thanks for the offer Scott I will say it. Good on you for offering to help anglers out with advice contained in your mags. After all that's just what it is, advice and not gospel.
It has started a debate as most issues seem to do on these forums but as everyone has their own opinion on things that is fair enough, but as you didn’t ask for members opinions on the quality of the magazine I can’t see why the responses are more concerned about this.

Guilty as charged !
My only defence is that I misread the original post.

So very true as debates can offer interesting reading , as long as they stay friendly though , Unfortunately often people do not respect each other views / opinions, its a shame when topics have to be locked.
