i recently puchased 2 bass poppers but am left confused they say 16g on them and i assumed that they would sink but they dont they just shim across the surface. do i have to add weights or what ???? please help |

poppers ,as far as i know, only ever float and skim the water when retrieved. the lures action on the water imitates a distressed fish and by ficking your rod will dart about and break the surface of the water which will then tempt an attack from a predator such as a bass or pike. i think the name popper comes from the fact that it pops up from the surface creating an inticing splash when retrieved. hope this helps. |

this helps so what sort of lure do i get for it to swim under the water as i have had no luck with the popper this may be down to location or just being new to it but i will prevail in the end |

look in the "sea fishing tips section" i put a sticky on lure fishing may help
tight lines |

there are hundreds of plugs on the market that dive to different depths and produce different actions. the best i find are the floating shallow divers. these will dive a couple of feet and will net you large mackerel, pollack and bass. oh and never use weights. best makes i find are: Rapala, Maria chase, Yo zuri and Luckycraft. checkout www.monstertackle.co.uk for great prices and delivery speed. |
