That rod appears to be a heavy ground, long distance casting rod, so I guess it must be able to handle a lot, 5 to 8 oz ?
Not sure of the model but appears almost a tournament rod
cheers

Yes basically
And to cast well with it, if long range is required, I guess you are going to need a fairly good casting technique
Cheers

The XTR is rated for 150 grms, but 170-200 will still be ok.
This is a groundcaster but you would be able to pendulum if your casting style is sound. Its a very stiff rod so you will need to keep it compressed when casting to get anything from it or it WILL bite back. Bite detection at range suffers because of the stiffness. |

This occurs frequently with stiff rods, if a cast is slightly mis-timed, the rod straightens and as you continue with the cast it feels as if the rod has been pulled away from you, as a result the lead wont go as far and sometimes it will cause a very slight strain in you arm muscles depending how much power you were putting in to it. Also a very stiff rod is more difficult to compress in the first place and unless the casting technique is sound then distance will suffer. A slightly softer rod will be easier to compress and more forgiving of any slight errors, the HSM and M4 Evos would fit into the slightly softer catagory. As a case in point I have 2 tournament rods and my M4s beat them for distance and bite detection. |
