Just a general question. I have been informed the sinking line is to be discontinued. is this the case and if so why?

Not heard anything to that effect, rabbi2. All the fly fishing catalogues still have a full range of sinking lines available. None of them are on special deals to get rid of them.

Half a dozen manufacturers producing lines for dozens of brand names. Each brand carries a range of sinking lines in hundreds of combinations or line weight, profile, colour, sink rate etc before you even look at shooting heads, lead core and tungsten impregnated. Highly unlikely they all sat down one day and said "let's stop selling 90% of our product range". Most likely your informant heard that one particular range of lines was going to cease production. To say all sinking lines were to be discontinued is like saying we're no longer going to make fishing weights. |
