Shimano Aerlex XS 7000 broken??

Dear people

I've just received a present: a Aerlex XS 7000 Shimano Fishing Reel. But it seems to have a problem, or I just don't know how this thing works. I've read the manual, but I did not discover any solution.

The problem is this:
I don't know how to call it in english, but when you want to spool fishingline onto the reel, it doesn't go up-and-down. Sometimes it does, but then after a few rounds it stops when it's completely down and it doesn't go up again.

Is it broken, or do I have to set something to make it work?

Sounds like something has gone wrong internally. Take it to a tackle shop and show them, or contact Shimano.

I agree theres def somthing wrong with that reel, i cant think of any settings that can effect that. Take it back!
