I have recently taken up sea fishing because my two young boys, 12 & 8, have shown an interest. We have found a liking for St Abbs ,near Coldingham, after trying lots of places along the east coast between Edinburgh and Seahouses in Northumberland.
Although my eldest, Connor, has had some luck including a nice sized pollack, it is my youngest, Kiran that seems to have endless luck, too many takes to mention including some decent sized fish. He always gets something even if the rest of us blank.
Last night, around 6pm, we were at Cockenzie just for an hours fish,(school night), nothing was biting except small crabs on Kirans line. I got a bit sick re-baiting his hooks, and while I was sorting out some spagetti on his brothers rod he had dropped an empty hook back in the water. Well didn't he just hook a small coalie with an empty hook.
I'm now trying desperately to keep his brother interested by telling him his luck will come soon.

thanks for reading

Probably the light caught the hook, gave a glint , and a fishy thought - WOW ! 8O

It is hard to maintain moral when something like that happens - sure he'll get over it big grin

Must have seen the metal shining in the water. A bit like a lure!

Does this mean I`m wasting £3.50 on wierd and wonderful lures. I have always suspected Pat Butchers earrings would make fantastic lures. 8)
