Hi all, what would you suggest the best rig is for CHESIL? When fishing for cod Also does the tide play a big part when fishing CHESIL, WITH IT BEING SO DEEP.?

i'd use a pulley rig or an up n over for the cod with penneled hooks size 2/0 or bigger depending on bait.

but don't ask me , i've not caught one (yet) .

imho.
chesil is fishable at all tide states , but some are better than others.

the surf can get a bit dangerous in strong south or southwesterlies
i avoid any thing over force 4-5 from those directions ( p'raps i'm just a coward happy ) eastern end of the beach creates the biggest breakers whereas bexy or burton bradstock tends to be less lumpy.

I have fished Chesil bank and Chesil beach on many occassions, with mixed success. I find the problem with Chesil is that due to the deep water the sea-bed is never revealed and therefore features such has deep depressions etc which attract fish can't really be located.
Trial and error seems to be the only solution, if you have had previous success at a particular spot then fish there again, otherwise it is rather a 'chuck it and chance it' venue.

Tight Lines.
