Been tying up a few of these for early season when the bait are small and for when the mackerel and scad are in.
(Actual size: 2" tied on a size 4 hook) |

Superb looking fly MJB. Should prove to be a killer. If you would like some trialed in the Solent, I'd happily volunteer
How early is early when you refer to macks and scad coming inshore? |

I'll see what I can do. Just bought a new camera with super-macro setting, but these epoxy flies are time consuming to tie without setting up for photographing so be patient. |

It's pretty straight forward.
1) Wrap the hook shank with body braid or twisted holofusion.
2) Tie in wing at the head. I've used hair extension hairs in this one, but use whatever you fancy.
3) Apply a thin coat of epoxy and hold the tail to form the profile you want (be sure to work the epoxy into the hair)
4) before epoxy has fully set apply tape eyes.
5) Apply a final thin coat of epoxy.
6) when epoxy has fully hardened shape tail using the points of the scissors. |
