Well due to the blustery winds, I ended up at maggy lane last night and every other fisherman had the same idea i think (shelter) coz it was packed. i managed to find a small gap along the wall big enough to fish with 2 rods. stright away the fish came in pout and whitting then nothing for a while then the bites came thick and fast small basss pout and whitting again, all for about 1/2 hour then dead again for an hour then had a nice doggy and a rather nice 2lb plaice wich made my night.
8 pout 4 whitting 3 bass 1 doggy 1 plaice, probably the best night ive had for a while.

nice one danny and sorry i didn't get back to you mate .
gixeral ive done a few photos to see if it helps you !! maggy lane is about 30mins drive from you
next photo shows you some marks and info about the place .
BLUE SQUARES ---- carparking
i tend to park on the grass verge and walk down the highlighted cutway( mark in green ) but if you fish the wall then best to park near the boat club
GREEN SQUARES---- cutway or walk ways
BLACK SQUARE ---- great flounder spot with a little cast to the left of the buoy ( highlighted in red ) you can have a really busy day mixed with eels and bass
YELLOW SQUARES ----- beach section , low tide you might find loads of end tackle due to this being a tackle graveyard , i was lead to believe that most snags is old cable from B.T Marina which was right opposite the beach 201 berth i think , but its very deep water so a leadlifter will help with the snags and depending on time of the year species included > mullet , bass , sea trout , salmon, ( hence river test ) pouting, whiting, codling, smuts, dogfish, weaver, wrasse, plaice ,sole, flounders, with such deep water the list could go on ..
From the view you can see the container boat and you get to see these monsters up close
PINK SQUARES---- The wall the 3rd square from the beach is another decent place to fish with redbridge buoy in-front of you ( highlighted red )
also if fishing the wall at low tide some-places you can jump over the wall and fish but be careful if a rig gets stuck climbing down the rocks can be dangerous , but its less snaggy than the beach and same amount of species can be taken .
BAITS--- Ragworm best bait but also mackerel squid and crab
if you walked to the flounder spot at low tide the wire meshing has loads of mussel beds .
hope that helps

Well I have to say that is great info .... thank you ! I'm from barton On Sea , and i'm not sure (as new here) - is that Southampton side or my side of the water ?
Is there a preference on rigs or distances ? happy to just try it out and see but desparate to get something on the end as so out of touch !
Again , thanks a million !

casting distance is not a problem at magazine lane even with a 30yd lob your in a nice depth , as for rigs ive always used wishbone rig and 2 hook flapper and yes its new forest side of the water |

Well done mate although it probably wasn't a plaice. I catch them down there all the time and they are flounder with the orange spots. I know that is what a plaice is but the waters not clean enough and has to much fresh water for plaice.
