HI all, I new here and impressed with the content.
Im off to Ilfracome for a holiday and need some help. Im an Avod fly fisherman and want to try a bit of sea fishing. I have bought myself a 13ft beach rod and reel - thanks to ebay - Now im stuck.
How should i proceed? off the beach? rocks? which rig should I try? I did look at rig 1 on the main site and thought it was fairly straight forward. Do i just bait it up and let it go in to the surf? How good are bites? does the rod double up or are they little taps? Do fish generally hook them selves? or do i strike into them? What about bait?
Do I float fish off teh rocks? Any tips on where to go around ilfracome?
Sorry to bombar you all i just need a few pointers. Or ill have to go saltwater flyfishing... |

Hi
Im also new to sea fishing, most of my time fishing has been spent in Angelsey. I find bites from most species very similar to a basic ledgering bite, but i have noticed the bass seem to pick up the bait and move towards you, which makes the bite hard to detect, i like rock fishing but i seem to lose to many rigs, Has anyone a answer to this problem? |

If you are loosing a lot of tackle off the rocks, why not try a rotten bottom rig? Use a sacrificial weight (nuts, bolts, etc) rather than a proper lead. This gets tied on with a weaker piece of line so that if it gets snagged, you lose the weight rather than the whole rig. |
