Trying Erith pier tomorrow, did a rece yesterday and looks a really nice place to fish, wish we could all have a local place to fish as good. Jay180 has posted some good pics on the venue sticky so fishing better live up to advance billing
Talked to a few locals a bit slow (the fishing not the locals) on advice given going with fresh tiger prawns, squid, lug (Fresh and Salted), aiming to fish 3 hours each side of high water, target flounder and a nice 1 to 1 1/2lb bass would be good.

Hi tangled, i fished erith last sat+sun blanked both times, good luck tomorrow, if you do go be carfull from the last seat from the end back to the second there is a bad snag 20 to 30 yards out and when the tide runs out it will get you every time. try to get right at the end and fish behind the hut it snag free
again good luck; Brian. |

good luck tangled... i think i know the regulars who advised you on tiger prawn, i not tried them but have seen them work for people there..... will try pop down around 2ish for a bit... as for the snag beefy mentioned, the tide at erith is not as strong as the other side, at the distance mentioned there is a build of mud an silt deposited here due to currents either side which leaves a ledge the tackle is getting buried in, retrieve fast..... fished there years but only found out this out the other day from a fella who worked on the river here all his life.... was a good chat, learnt a lot from him...

Well I can report Erith has a very nice pier that is free of charge as is the parking in Morrisons car park, can also report the raw tiger prawns stay well on the hook well (best put on with baiting needle). Also that salt preserved lug looks like ---- but once on the hook re-hydrates very well.
Had visit from Beefy, Jay180, brother and lots of locals which was nice, we watched cormorant catch a rather big flatty that took it a good 5 minutes to swallow, had bets, beefy wanted the gulls to rob the fish, Jay180 wanted the cormorant to choke, I won as cormorant swallowed fish.
Peter
PS That was the only fish seen
PPS Well lets hope Walmer is kinder tomorrow |
