Can anyone point me into the right direction for some good fishing off the coast in the south of Scotland ie not 250 miles away from Glasgow as my usual trips are. I was thinking about the Mull of Kintyre..perhaps around Carradale or Cambletown. I have tried around carradale before but it seems very sheltered, good for sea trout though!! keep seeing them, follow the lure right up to the rocks then they just turn away..i`ve tried putting a "flying treble" on but they seem to know its there and still just nip it and turn away ...very frustrating :? There must be good places around the Clyde or Forth. Any help greatly appreciated.

Had a great days boat fishing on 16/09/2006 sailing from Girvan to Arran & Ailsa Craig (approx 1hr sailing in good conditions )10 of us went and we caught about 150 fish pollock from 5lb-15lb using leadheads and mackrel bait. Wrasse, mackrel on the feathers were also caught in abundance. The only problems was the rocky bottom at our marks around Arran as we snagged a few times so take a good few leadheads. Tried out the new Gulp artificial baits too with resounding sucsess, they really are as good as the real thing if not better. Trips to Sanda Island (off the Mull of Kintyre)are also availible from Girvan. |

I`m jealous already mouse !! big pollock from a boat and only an hour from Glasgow........sounds great , glad you had a good one too. Thanks for the info. As for the boat trips from Ayrshire, well to be honest I did not think they would be any good. I thought they were just mackerel bashing and the odd conger. Big pollock however ..sounds like good fun. h ow do you go about booking a space on a boat ?? Many thanks again.. |
