Hi all,

Keeping Sandeel alive for more than a few days is it possible?

it is possible but takes alot of work, you need to get a small aerator and put it in a bucket of sea water (fish tank aerator is fine but poratble is better) and you must change the water daily because sandeel are one of the most awkward little gits for dieing if something goes wrong

i use a bucket with a lid in for three reasons, stops them getting out (they have done before lol) keeps it dark and keeps them fairly calm and reduces splashes.

The real trick is to test the temprature of the water around the coastline which at the minute where i am is a little below 8oC, then try and keep your sandeel filled bucket oif water at this temprature or within a couple of degrees keeping in mind fish dont like sudden jumps and will die if the temprature rises or falls rapidly
