Has anyone heard of 'spotted cod'. According to this web article, http://rnandrmaa-game.org.uk/game_saltwater_fly_fishing.php
there is an annual run of at Hillhead, with fish up to double figures.
Any info on when this happens and suggested flies would be gratefuly received. Bassfly, no jokes about how you 'spotted a cod the other day', thanks.

Maybe the blind mullet migrate to Hillhead for their summer holidays. That would explain the floaters when I take my first dip in April! Seriously, thanks for the info nrthender. I will definately have a go at accidentaly hooking a spotted cod come March.

Thanks for the advice kingcrab. Quite an unusual looking fly, the 'rogans gadget' but looks easy enough to tie. Nice website too. I'm sure a man of bassfly's tying skills could rustle up a few to try in the solent!
You mention that mullet also like this fly. Is it regularly successful with them? Loads of mullet down here but can't get them to even look at a fly.
All the best for the new season mate.
