Hello Pete, welcome to the forum.
When re-spooling mine I stand up my tripod and tie some line between the front legs,I pass this line through the middle of my spool of line before tieing the second leg, so that the spool hangs between the 2 legs, this will stop line twist occuring.
Seat your reel on a rod,( I use a butt section with a ring ) pass the line through a ring and tie it to the spindle of the reel, hold the rod about 8- 12 inches in front of the reel with your left hand, and hold the line between your thumb and forefinger. Now you can just wind on the line, you will need to keep the line tight, which you can do by holding the line tight with your left hand, you must also keep the line level even on the reel by slowly moving it left to right and back again.
When your about 3mm from the lip of the reels spool cut the line and tie on a shock leader if the reel is for beachcasting, or if your boat fishing just fill it up to the lip of the reel.
Tight lines, carl. |

sounds good
I'm pretty new to this fishing lark and thought they (spooling stations) were a bit of a gimick. However I stripped 3 reels and replaced the lines on Sunday. Seemed to take forever, especially as I didn't have anyone to hold the spools and bodged something up using a book and a flower pot! |

The other way put reel onto rod with a butt ring.
pass line through rod ring and tie onto reel spool.
drop spool of line into bucket of water and wind.
the wetting of the line lays it flatter.
old way,but works
