Could anyone tell me the definition of the Ebb tide please , is it at the point the tide stops comming in & then starts to go out , or the time between the to when it's not doing anything

Hi
As far as I understand ebb is opposite of flood, hence the tide is dropping on the "ebb", rising on the "flood" and "slack" when it is inbetween.

Always been told :-

The tide would flood in on you have a rest as in slack then ebb away from you.....

as with the others sid its how i understand it to, flood (coming in), slack (high water), ebb (going out), slack (low water), then it repeats the cycle over an over, 2 floods an 2 ebbs per 24 hours.... good luck big grin
