Hi I'm buying a new reel but I've got no experience with magnetic brakes and I'm wondering if I should switch to the CT Mag? Do they offer any real benefit. I'm quite happy with centrifugal braking but I'm just wondering if mag might help in the cold when your fingers go a bit numb? |

The main thing is youve chosen a CTmag.theres no benefit to cold weather as your fingers hang off what ever reel you use.
at least with the Ct you wont have to keep re-tying shockleaders on when the level wind snaps them, like on the CS reels.
and have to pull the weed from the level wind.
the only thing is the cold hands from un-doing birdies until you master the casting.
good luck,practice makes perfect.

I use a multi with a level wind and I have never had to re-tie my shockleader because the level wind snaps them. If your knot is small enough it souldn't be affected by the level wind mechanism.
