Braid is expensive but for boat fishing theres nowt better. I use ron Thomson Cable braid 80lb at £40 for 300 meters. But I belive its cheaper in the lower breaking strains somwhere in the region of £30 per 300 meters.
You will be able to reduce the size of your weight due to the braids lower diameter and will be in constant contact with you fish.
