Hi Mike, not much on the web regarding Hook Head except holiday cottages but saw this book on Amazon which might be of interest to you unless someone on this site has any info.

Hi

I have fished pretty much all of hook head from Duncannon to Baginbun Head. If you are talking about the estuary side, this would be a good mark. Also, check Google Earth for Galgystown and Whitehall, both marked on the Head on google earth. Between these areas, I have caught pollack, bass and Ray on the estuary side and on the opposite rocks, the usual suspects, doggies, conger, rockling, pollack and wrasse. I think the area closest to the lighthouse is overfished, I usually steer clear and head towards Loftus Hall or Slade. Behind Loftus hall on the estuary side, there is some great Bass fishing, the ground is low and rough, it will eat tackle, but in June or July, using a shallow diving Rapala or a popper, I have caught some lovely sized Bass.

Please release all bass, we need to protect this species.

If ledgering here I use a pulley rig mostly, it will help avoid snagging and losing a fish.

I find that fishing in the popular spots can be useful, you will be almost certain of a fish, explore a little (not alone), and you will get better quality fish.

If you need to know anything else, I will gladly advise if I can.
