Hi im John,
Just thought i would say a hello to everyone, hope i can help you as much as possible with the little knowledge i have and you can help me learn some new tricks.
Ive been fishing for nearly 20 years now mainly on Chesil beach but i used to do some carp fishing a while ago. I have fished all over the country but never had to much luck, so im on here in the hope of changing that!
Hordle and Milford shingle are another 2 of my local spots and i have done many hours fishing there, Best fish was a 15lb smooth hound on sand eel.
I use a zziplex formula T with a abu sport mag and a Diawa SS12OFA with a shimano aerlex gtx8000. |

Hi John,
Nice to (virtually) meet you. I'm Andy.
Been coarse fishing (river mostly) for a good 10 years or so, but only just starting out sea fishing, so that's why I'm on here.
I used to do a bit of carp lake fishing too, but it's no fun when you know they're in there...
Anyway, I'm often in the West country, so I'll check out Chesil beach on my way down.
Cheers |

Thanks for the reply to my other post, think i will give Berry head a go and maybe Brixham breakwater. Been a while since i fished Berry head but i seem to remember catching a few makerel and garfish.
If you do go to Chesil i would give West Bexington a try, Good parking pretty much on the beach with a cafe/shop and toilets. Also a couple of pubs not to far away.
I went last week and only managed to catch 4 makerel which is poor for this time of year and that was at sunset. I have caught over 100 there in a day before. (got sick of the taste of it!) During the winter good sized cod can be taken from the Portland end of the beach but i've yet to manage it! Hopefully soon if we are still allowed to fish for them. |

I was at Brixham Marina on the weekend. Saw several decent sized mullet under and around the walkways (one appeared to feed on the weed on the walkway). Will be back there in August with a carp rod and float line to see if I can bag some.
The breakwater itself was busy with lots of people fishing, but didn't get a chance to drop in a line myself. Have heard good things about it though, so would be a good place to get started.
I like the sound of West Bexington, especially the pubs! Thanks for the tip. |
