hi i am new to sea fishing i have been carp/matching fishing in the midlands for years though.what i need is help to catch any species from portishead i have only been there once but will try to get down there once or twice a month from feb onwards. i have spoke to the local tackle shop down there he help me alot but will need help to tell me how its fishing and what i need to be looking out for when fishing there.i have been fishing down south in looe were i have caught tope and conger to over 30lbs from boats while on holiday and this is what got me hooked on sea fishing thanks for your time happy

hi jester, you can fish from steamer pier which is just around the corner from the tackle shop,but you cant fish from it if the tide is above 12m you will also need the code for the gate to get on there,you could always try battery point abit futher round,but it is very snaggy to the righthand side, better to cast to your left, and you have also got sugarloaf beach which is a bit futher up and can be fished on a low tide as long as you dont mind getting muddy. good luck tightlines.
