Lately I have been having problems with my snoods getting tangled and not releasing properly from the impact clips.
So I was advised to try a French Boom I have looked into the types of Boom you can get and am completely lost as to the choice.
Does anyone have a clue as to which I should try first?

It really depends on where your fishing. ie Beach Pier Boat Rocks. happy
I myself use the simple wire boom for most of my fishing and also use the GenieĀ® Two Hook Boom Flapper but thats mainly for beach when your looking the distance. 8)
Hope this has helped a bit but for more info try the genie web site http://gemini-tackle.co.uk
Also your local tackle shop will prove a great place for information and selection.

I use twisted wire booms for my short range flattie fishing as they pin the hook snoods and bait hard on the sea bed. My mate uses Avis plastic booms and is just as successful. Unfortunately these type of booms put up alot of air resistance so aren't so good for distance casting. To prevent tangles on long range rigs I use 25 or 30lb clear amnesia. The thick line doesn't put fish off. As for rigs remaining clipped down after impact don't crimp the hook snood too tight to the clip, moderate tension is enough. For 100% release use a breakaway impact shield and follow the insructions on the packet. I've also tried the SRT springs but feel they are a solution to a problem that wasn't actually there. Hope this has been of some help. concrete. happy
