the first time in a session laughing is the way but last night i had one just like that i put it down too cold fingers soooooooo being up beat as i am i just cut it off and reloaded the spool, THEN THEN 40mins and the second cast later i left my wollon finger "but not thumb" less gloves on and as i was taking my swing i thought emmmmm is this wise maybe i should at least take theright clove off . . . . . . nop too late lead flys thumb is applyed to control line or is it . . NO its not, that familar crack as the lead and trace flys into the abis, i look down at the second mess id made said dam and blast, and decide i wanted to go home anyway, may switch to a fixed spool for the cold nights from now on |

mine was last cast so it didnt matter lol
if it was 1st cast i woulda put my other reel on and
used that while geting my other reel sorted and ready to go again but i will NEVER go fixed spool i love my multipliers
+ it looks like there is alot of stress when using a fixed spool but i supose its personal choices isnt it |

There's no stress using a fixed spool reel. Just load the line correctly and away you go. Been using them since before I had fur on my ar53. You might not be able to cast to the horizon, but since you are a relative newcomer to sea fishing as am I, I doubt this is what you are aiming for anyway.
Give it a go, you can pick up a reasonable reel with a 60/70/80 sized spool for about £20-30. If you like it then you can invest in one of the more quality ones. Saves time on the 'bank' untangling a nest when you should be watching for bites. |

Shakespeare Tidewater 070 sized Reel £17 from Bennets of Sheffield including 20lb mono.
The In2 range is cheaper still.
