can someone tell me is it best when putting line on your reel for beach fishing
that you put maybe 16lb on then finish off with a shock leader

I use 15lb mainline with a 60lb shockleader(dont forget the shockleader needs to go the length of the rod with the drop and at least 3 turns of the reel) :lol:
It will depend on where you are fishing (and the reel in question) as that is what i use on a clean snag free beach, off the rocks i might use 30lb line right through as long as i am not casting hard and anything around 20-25lb with leaders on snaggy beaches(remember for ever ounce you cast =10lb of line eg 5oz weight needs at least a 50lb leader) 8)

Hi tez,

You cant really go wrong with 15lb daiwa mono and then finish off with a 16lb-60lb tapered shock leader.
