I'm trying to decide on a new beach rod - it's probably gonna be either a Century or a Zziplex!!!
Can any of you guys give me any advice???
I generally fish the Medway, although do go down to the coast on occasions, so i guess i'll be looking for a clean/mixed type pf rod!!!
Thanks in advance |

Hi sparkie I take it that you have no set budget for your rod. Unfortunately it'sgoing to be a while before I can afford the rods from those two manufacturers so I can't help you there.
This postmay be be better off in the rods forum as youwill probably get more replys in there or even find the information you want from the many posts in that forum.

Hi Sparkie, I too went through the dilemas of which rod. When you are looking at Zzippies you are looking at spending big bucks. I even travelled down to Summerfields in Westward Ho! Devon to look and chat with those that know. I now have two - a 3500 and a HSM, what can I say - they are the best rods I have ever owned, the 3500 is a finer tip that is so sensitive you can almost feel your ragworm wriggling yet it will cast 5oz of lead to the horizon (and you will still see the ragwom wiggling your tip - only joking), the HSM is heavier but bite detection tremendous I use it with slightly heavier baits of around 6-7oz, but it will still dance around with the smallest of pout at 150m out. The incredible thing with both is that even in the windiest of conditions you can distinguish easily between wind and bite.
They are not cheap but if you consider that they will last you years and hundreds of trips, they don't work out that bad. I will never buy another brand of rod - FANTASTIC rods (walk along one of the international/national comps see what rods the pros are using, they don't get it wrong and loads of them use Zzippies). |

Hello Sparkie, go for a Zippy m8, I've had so many rods over the years but none compare to the 2 zziplex M4 evo's I bought this year. They cast for miles and seem effortless, good bite detection, and are built to your spec. For lighter work I would suggest a primo, but for mixed ground I would stick with the M4's. |
