The rod tip bends or knocks, not to be confused with tidal movement that is sometime imparted to the tip of the rod. Cheers keith

Just look for them positive knocks and bends mate you'll soon get to know. At dungee I usually wind in and rebait roughly every 20 mins anyway. Also welcome to the forum mate.

Tophat the rod tip will knock like if you rapped your nuckles on your door.
Tides and wind just rock and bend your tip and weed is similar to the bite knock.
Practise will give you confidence and experience.
