had my first beach fishing trip last night.now iam a information sponge. fished sandwich bay 1 4lb coding and loads of small whiting and i think a shore rockling!!! but......the whiting drove me batty....... whats the best rig bait combo to fend these critters off. any help advice greatly recieved thanks one very ex carp angler. |

I am not an experienced like some of the lads (N Sue) on here but the whiting tends to comes in all the time.
I have tried different set ups and baits the whitings still take it so I will look on this thread as a learning curve for myself too.

You wont be able to keep the whiting away, even a whole squid bait and large hooks will probably catch you a fish half the size of the bait, there's just so many of them and on a bad night down sandwich bay they'll be hitting your bait within 10 seconds of being in the water. If you can fish rough weather this sometimes help as they don't seem to like it, especially over shallower water. |

Welcome to the forum mate and yes whiting are a pain but sometimes they are better than sitting there for hours and blanking, and they do make exceedingly good pies and fish cakes.
