North West Angling Centre are doing the same rod (no reel) for £49.99 . I had a look at one yesterday when I called in there for some bait , seems to be the business and Im very tempted . Anyone used one of these ?

Bit the bullet and bought one of these . I was seriously thinking about getting a Shakespeare Salt but the guy in the shop wouldnt discount the Salt angry

Anyway the Shimano Nexave BX 13ft FS , after using it for the first time last night I can say Im more than happy with it .
Nice and slim and very light (noticabley lighter than the Salt when I held them side by side). Quite a stiff rod and in more capable hands than mine no doubt would cast a good 150 yds without to much trouble . Casting weights are 4 - 8 oz I was sending 4 oz and a couple of baits 80 yds with only a easy lob .
Bite detecion is fine a small dab had the tip nodding nicely .
The finish is excelent and the movable reel seat is a bonus .
The only thing I wasnt happy about was the lack of a light coloured tip (it has semi luminous rings instead ok if your stood behind the rod but useless if your more than 30degrees to the side) . A quick application of some yellow paint on the tip has solved this .

If I`d paid the full rrp I would have been pleased with the rod , at half price its excellent value .
