Hi all.
I,m a new member to this site & have found a massive amount of info found on here so useful. A big thanks and hopefully I can repay in some small way with my meagre knowledge.
I,m a novice but enthusiastic sea fisherman, with only a few outings, but with your members help have tied my own rigs and caught on them.
Friday 24th oct - had a days fishing just before battery point. Visited the tackle shop for bait- well stocked and helpful. used rag , mackeral & squid & caught a dozen codling.
I was well pleased and if you live in the midlands area, its a short journey and well worth visiting.
Once again many thanks for input & advise from all of you.

Sorry guys, Im from bridgnorth - shropshire. I,d noticed that a few posts from people in the midlands were unsure where to go because so far from any coast.
I did try Borth & aberystwyth but to no avail whatever i tried.
Then i noticed a post for portihead. Only an hours drive and good fishing reported.
Smiles all round when i started catching. I would reccommend to anyone in the midlands area. Go see the tackle shop guy in the marina quay. Very very helpful. He says the cod will be good in about four weeks. Can,t wait to go back. Cheers.

I fished there for the first time recently and had a bass of around 6lb and a ray possibly into double figures.

HI All

I am a new member also and read allot of posts on here about Battery Point.
I gave it a go last week to the right of the light house the tide was to strong and lost allot of gear, no bites.
Moved on to the beach to the left, does this produce or was I waisting my time?
Still cleaning the mud of my clothes, tackle. crying

Any guidence would be appreciated. confused

hi mike, i tend to avoid the right handside of the lighthouse because of that reason, the undercurrent here can be very strong, and it is not kind to your tackle,if a low tide you can go out to the point and cast straight out,or you can fish to the left of the lighthouse, ive seen a lot of fish caught from here in the past,or you could always fish off the pier which is mud free big hug but fish to the left of the pier or your tackle will go with the boats.

hi mike, now I've fished on the right hand side (other people fishing there as well, all the way across) of the lighthouse but only on -- neap -- high tides otherwise as easty said it can travel and would be unfishable, the last time I fished there we had 13 codling big grin I lost two lots of tackle all day so not bad, my mates never lost a thing.use pulley rigs though...

Thanks Both

I think I will try somewhere else in my quest to add a cod to my not caught list.
