Hi all, I'm both new to the forum and to sea angling. Most of my previous fishing has been carp but me and a friend have recently had a boating trip in croatia and would really like to get into sea fishing seeing as we have it on our doorstep!

Currently have tackle oriented to either cod or bass and were hoping to fishing one of the above mentioned venues ( cardiff / barry / aberthaw) .

The only problem is having never fished any of them before we don't really know what we're in for at any of the marks and I think we're likely to be heading out this Friday evening which will be getting towards low tide.

Any help, information or advice would be really appreciated!

Hiya mate. Both that shorty are good, as is ogmore deeps which i loved when i fished before and will start going to again shortly.
Cardiff foreshore is having problems at the mo. Security to parts of it via some works is blocked. Some anglers started abusing the security guys there apparently and they have hit anglers hard. You can still get to parts but not sure about the famed cods corner anymore.

Apparently some codling is showing around porthcawl on the bay right by the caravan park> fished it years ago and had a good session with the club i was in but yet to try there again. Supposed to be some good conger there too. if you want more detailed info let me know and i will find out for you.

Hi Prey, in my humble opinion if you are after Bass you would be hard pressed to beat the quality or size of fish that Barry dock is showing at the moment, I went tonight and had a new pb on the year of 8 1/2 lb followed by 3 1/2 lb then one just under the 8 mark then a "little" 3 lber . not bragging but if it's bass your after you could do a lot worse than try there.
Cheers Steve
