I'm moving to Aberdeen in a few weeks and am anxious to get into sea kayak fishing (river and lake kayak fishing too). I've been kayak fishing Galveston Bay (Texas) for over a year now and really enjoy it. It's really big here on the Texas coast.
I would appreciate any information and tips on how to get started, where to go, rules and regulations, etc. If you can point me to other posts on the forum where these things have already been discussed, that would be helpful.
Here's a forum you might find interesting to read for fun:
www.texaskayakfisherman.com
Here's a photo of my Native Ultimate
I also have a Mainstream Kingfish and a Necky Dolphin.
I look forward to participating on this forum and hopefully meeting many of you and fishing together.
Best regards,
Tim |

Hmmm ive never seen anybody fishing from a kayak up here in aberdeen, mostly just shore / rock fishing, and out on the inshore / charter boats, the north sea can be bitterly cold in winter, hell it can be cold anytime! and pretty lairy when it comes to the rollers, the surfers seem to like it! and the kite board boys.
i did think about it, but i kinda figured it be a bit rough and dangerous, except on the calmest of summer days. looks likes you might be better trying some the shore fishing, or going out on the charter boats from the local smaller harbours. unfortunately the kind of fishing you have been used to we can likley only dream about, alas our fishing stocks are down a lot even on what i was used to say 20 yrs ago when i was a kid, there is some good sport to be had, but nothing to compare to the gulf of mexico. (lol also take as much tackle with you as you can, you guys get the stuff way cheaper than us poor unfortunates here, id kill to get some good reels and lures over from the states, unfortunately my friend that worked there was relocated to brazil )
all the best on the placement here, im sure you will like it, theres a lot of americans in aberdeen as well as other nationalities, and the nightlife aint to shabby either! |
