This is my first message on this site and I appologise if I sound like a beginner, but that's what I am!
I've been lucky enough to secure myself a holiday to Caister through "The Sun"(hoping to get an excuse to fish different waters) . Bearing in mind the time of year (1st week in April) should I pack my gear, and if so can anyone recomend marks/beaches, or should I pack a kite and a frisbee? |

Hi Ben, don't know much about Caister. I would be inclined to go South to the North Suffolk beaches ( see my reply to Dave's thread ) or to go North to the Walcott/Horsey/Salthouse/Weybourne type beaches. This is obviously only my personal opinion. I am going to stay at sister's near Cromer sometime during the first few weeks of April, so these are the type of places I will go. Good luck. |

I would take your tackle as plenty of marks around caister and surrounding area. would fish for the flatfish as going to be your best bet in this months sea angler there is an article on Scratby which is about 2miles north of caister. if you really want to know hoiw its fishing try ringing the tackle shop in gorlsten...
any more help just ask! |

Thanks Slashley and Magictoys for your replies. I now have my copy of Sea Angler and Scratby certainly seems to be the logical beach to head for. My wife and kids can write postcards from California whilst I fish from the beach! Is it worth me chucking out for any of these rumoured late codling? :? |

THe chances of a codling are very slim but if the conditions are perfect then it could be worth a try i would fish one rod for both see what one produces and switch them both to fish that line probaly close in for dab...
it might be advisable to order your bait before you go. They sell it at Scratby gardning centre (nt sure if they do in winter time) but your best place is Floaters tackle in Great yarmouth or Gorlsten tackle in gorlsten. When are you going? |

Magictoys, we will be up there Monday to Friday next week. I haven't looked at the tides, and in all honesty I shall be fishing about 10% of the time that I would like to. Got to keep the family happy. Trying to break my sons in slowly. I'm just happy to get the chance to fish a different coast. I hope to hit Dungeness on Thursday of this week ( weather permitting) and I'm pretty sure Dabs will be on the menu there. My barber claims to have pulled in a 6lb winter bass recently. If I don't catch something similar I'll have to get my hair cut somewhere else! |
