I purchased a Diawa Super cast beachcaster some time ago but I found it to be awkward and unbalanced for me, and I laid it up for a while.
I fitted a new butt section by cutting a different butt and replacing the spigot. This had the effect of shortening the rod by 6ins and at the same time fitting a conventional reel seat.
The result is a more well balanced rod that suits my style of casting.
I know it sounds a bit drastic, I could have sold the rod and purchased something else but I liked the overall finish of the rod as it is quality that cannot be found in some cheaper models.
I am not recommending that others should do it as its not everyone that can take a junior hacksaw to a brand new rod and get away with it.
Cheers
