My wife and I are shortly relocating to Southern Brittany in France and were thinking of offering holidays/short breaks inclusive of sea fishing trips with a friend of ours. It is a fully equipped boat and he is fully qualified, insured etc.
I would welcome any constructive comments as to whether it is a good idea or not? |

It sounds a great idea. I would suggest that once you get it up and running you contact the sea fishing mags here and try and get a feature written by inviting them FOC to try it out. That will give you all the publicity that you need to get it off the ground (providing the fishing is ok!) and hopefully quite a few bookings will result. Also a regular small ad in ad in their classifieds would be needed at least until you have built up sufficient business to keep you going.
Have you researched what the fishing is like there and what can be caught?
It may be worth putting a few different packages together inc flights etc as well as separate prices so that anglers can tailor-make their own trips.
Good luck with the new venture, maybe I might see you there sometime! |

Thank you for your comments.
The range of fishing available is varied from 2/3 mile mixed bags of mackerel/cod/bass etc to superb wreck fishing (there was a HUGE naval battle not far from port in 1943 and many many ships were wrecked).
What promted the idea is that, whilst there is large scale commercial fishing out of the port there is little or no charter fishing.
If there is a market we could even offer trips to persue the 10/15 mile deep Atlantic areas offering a wide and varied range of fishing.
We hope to trial the idea this summer and these results will obviously be the basis for our future plans. |

Hi There
Have a look at the EFSA website it may be of interest to you if you have not already had a look
I often bring the family to France so would be interested sometime in a fishing trip.
Hope your venture is a success
