Hi, I am coming down to South Devon around Dawlish area this weekend and was hoping to wet some lines.

I was wondering what is being caught at the moment and what is the best tactic / place I should be aware to be successful?

Coming from very far , I would really like to catch something. I got 10ft telescopic rod so can't cast that far.

I heard Markerels are gone now , so how should I go on about it? Should I prepare for Cod type of fishing?

Also fishing on the Dawlish pier. (well sort of pier looking from google map) is safe? any good?

Never fished Dawlish before, but as I work on the trains I pass there every day (always have a good look!!) and quite often see people fishing there but looks more like holiday makers.
