I went to Arnside today the weather was attrocious!!

I am fairly new to Sea Fishing - Only ever been out a couple of times with my brother and then we only went for Mackerel.

Anyway I had got some lug from Gerry's earlier and thought I might as well use it as the wife wouldn't let me put them in the fridge. When I got there the tide was already coming in there was about 1/2 hour to max high water. There was already a couple of guys on the pier, who had upto that time not caught anything. I got set up with a two hook flapper rig with size 2/0 hooks and baited them with lug. First cast went about 75yds, I thought I might aswell let it lie as you never know. Another guy set up next to me on the left corner of the pier, after about ten minutes and a drenching from the downpour I had a couple of knocks then the rod tip started bouncing, Decided I must have something on so reeled in and found to my delight i had caught my first flounder. As I had mentioned to you earlier I am new to this game of Sea Fishing, Unfortuneately My Phone decided to give up the ghost due to water getting into it and i didn't have a camera with me so no photo but I would think it was about 9" in size and hooked very lightly. So as you can probably imagine I was over the moon with this catch. I gave up ater about 1hour as I felt I had enough of a shower by this time. The other guys on the pier were still fishing but had still not caught anything by the time I left.

All in all a pretty good days fishing apart from the weather.

Regards

George
