I just got back from Casting on my local field And i only brought two weights with me. This was a problem because on my first cast it snapped at the shock leader knot to mainline. After 15 mins of undoing a Huge birdsnest i tied on some more line and tried again. Oops it snapped again on the shock leader knot.
It wasnt from getting caught on the eyes thou because the main line had a few meters out the end of the rod.
So can someone tell me a GOOD knot.

| Hi Mate, I have used the Allbright knot for the last two years and found it very reliable - not a single crackoff even when using a 6 oz sinker and doing airialised OTG casting. Also it has a slim profile so goes up through the rings quite well. Just a thought - in the "starting" position, it is advisable to have several turns of SL round the spool. Saw a guy a while back having problems because his SL knot was a couple of feet up the rod in his starting position instead of being on the spool with 2-3 ft of SL line in front of it. |
