all this info is what i've heard as i've never been out there, planning to this year though.

the tide runs very hard, you'll need a 8oz fixed grip wire to hold. as for fish there's usually a very large rang of fish out there, smut, bass, plaice, pollock, etc. in fact the british record bass is from there.

as for places the end were you get off the boat is meant to be the better end, i would prob put 1 rod each side and see how it goes.

sorry. it's a nickname for the smoothhound.

put a post up nearer the time for better prodictions. at least it gives you an idea what to expect.

and also remember that your out there all day weather you like it or not. no tackle shops, chippies, extra/ dry clothes in the car. take everything that you need.

hi crabby
we fish it most of the time phone brazil's for imfo and bait the guy's in the shop seem to be o.k and find out how the winds are before you travel if to windy the boat will not go out.
We normaly take anything upto 100 worm (mixed) squid. try useing a pennel rig for the big baits and a 2/3 hook flapper down the wall the tide rips past so a heavy weight is needed and remember you have to travel out to it by boat so all you gear is on your back because you need 1 hand to grab the rail as you get of and no one under the age of 16 can go out, hope this helps

hi roker
what i can gather from info i have been told is that kids are not allowed on the breakwater but i have never fished it yet. may be worth contact the people who run the breakwter and find out what the age restriction is.

Hi all, I fished the breakwater for the first time last september and it was very good. I just fished with my normal beach gear plus a rotten bottom and six oz leads, breakaway and fixed. I had two good bass, a dogfish dabs, pouting, a nice wrasse and a scad. It's certainly worth the effort of getting out there. I hope to go in June, July and August when the beaches get crowded.
