Firstly, I would like to express my thanks to the members of this forum for the help and advice I have received from them since I joined a month or so ago. Not only the replies to my numerous questions but also the information gleaned from reading other posts that answered my questions before I asked them.
Secondly I must thank my wife, Rachael, who convinced me to return to fishing after an absence of many years. It was she that brought me a 12ft beachcaster and reel, and one for herself, and who accompanies me on our fish hunting expeditions. She blanked for our first 6 outings and still managed a smile when I caught a few Bass, a Dog, a few mackie and 4 Pollack. In fact, she is already pestering me, as if that was required!!!!, to get the tackle ready for Thursday night when we are going overnight to thurlsestone. Oh no! not just a couple of hours, She wants to get there bout 5 in the evening, fish the incoming and outcoming tides and then leave about 7 in the morning for the trip home. What makes that even more admirable is that we are moving this weekend.
Am I the luckiest angler on these forums or is there someone out there who can beat having a wife that not only encourages them to go fishing but also is more than happy to come along and fish beside them.
Dont be shy lads, tell the truth!
Phil |

lol, once again I can count my blessings, couple of weeks ago we wnt to get some tackle, normal stuff, weights, hooks etc and my good lady decides to get a couple more rods and a shrimp net.
Then a tent arrives to give us shelter, the list goes! |

Untill i got chucked last week ( most probably due to spending the entirety of my summer leave on the tamar and not entertaining the missus) my missus did support fishing as a hobby, as it seemed to be mildly cheaper than pissing up all the time, and i used to come home earlier then i would then i would after a night in the town, but then drew the more desperate nights where arriving home sleepless having cought one bloody wrasse or a pollock you felt guilty for hooking. And then it occured to me you can mix fishing and drinking,
Then fishing became. ' what, you're going fishing again?'
ahhhh well single now, Im not too sure whether i would have liked her to come with me though, maybe during a day sesion at the beach or summit where she can sit and amuse herself out of the way, but definately not on a night.
Fishing, Football and Fighting,
Cooking cleaning, and caring
I know where i'd want to keep my missus ha ha ha |
