i'm gonna try this summer for some but it's to early down here at the mo.
i've asked some questions on another site and basically big NOT stainless steel hook, wire trace, big fillet or half a macky or big squid baits.
after you've hooked one i suppose you'll need a net if you're on a pier, forceps or T bar and a pair of side cutters incase you have to leave the hook in the fish. |

it's a well known fact that they do have teeth, big ones at that. and apparently they bite. so keep fingers out of thier mouth. LOL |

using 100lb trace with a size 6 hook and a mackerel flapper (a whole makerel with the back bone cut out ) a good bait deferently worth a go.
i ve never caught 1 my self had 1 on but was only using 30lbs line and i think it bit through it.

HI Bassboy I am from N.Ireland plenty of Conger and am now hooked on catching them.
8) Caught a beauty there a few nights back came in at just under 57lbs give or take an ounce.Wouldnt stay still long enough for the scales to settle properly. My Mate caught one weighed in at 68lb now that was a fish.
:?:  We use a feeder stuffed with all sorts of gunck and that brings them in and we too use mackeral but also any other fish that we have caught around the shore. We find that if there left to go a bit humming   the Conger like that better down here so if it works why change. |
