Haslar sea wall

Last night myself and my girlfriend drove down to haslar wall to enjoy the view on a rough late evening. There where many people fishing and they where very cold too. One of the guys (by the car park) had picked a plaice of about 2lb, with a really white underside and really large bright spots on top, also 3 flounder well in size. I asked him what he was using as bait he said just rag on a two hook rig. He also had pout well undersize, but who doesnt this time of year... Just thought i would let you all know. If you dont know the sea wall, where he was fishing, there is a car par park by the golf club and some small railings that you can lean your rods against which face directly towards the open sea, maybe try here it was very good for him.

Very interesting that someone had a plaice, I have been told that they don't (usually) come back to the beaches until March after their winter spawning bash in deeper waters. However if someone has had one already, I may have a bash over Hayling sand banks now.

Three days ago i also took a small plaice from portsmouth harbour, really nice spots and very clean. Far to small to keep, but a very good sign. Let me know how you get on with the plaice hunt on the island.
