Has anyone any experience with the Shakespeare 'powerplay' multiplier, is it okay as a back-up reel or is it a bit more than that ??? confused

Apparently they are based on the Diawa 'Millionaire' and on that basis they could be a good deal

They're not the highest quality build but for that money you wouldn't expect them to be. The design is definately sound (based on the earlier Millionaires ... MKII, 6HM and RM of Paul Kerry's tournament era) and they should be fairly usable, probably last a while if serviced and maintained properly. If you got a good caster behind a properly tuned one I would imagine some very respectable distances would result .. but obviously as said before, its an economy reel and you wouldn't expect them to last like a more expensive one.

A very good buy at that money ... and a few mods would make it even more usable.

Cheers thanks for your concise review of the 'Powerplay multiplier', I hadn't seen /held in the flesh so to speak this reel until last Monday in 'Gone fishing ' Canvey it a lightweight well made reel suitable for light beachcasting / uptide work and @ £ 44 it aint bad !!!!!!!! suprise and as per normal as of late of a good standard, which is a feature of most of 'Shakespeares' tackle at the moment

They are described as having a centrifugal braking system, i understand centrifugal force i.e the effects of inertia......rotation etc, im familiar with the workings of an automatic centrifugal gearbox also but im not with a braking system.....................are they any good ? ,is it better than magnets? is it a new inovation or simply a re-vamp........has anybody had any expirience with a similar reel? confused .

The best centrifugal system I ever came across was on the old Intrepid Seastreak Nicknamed the screamer. I loaned on to Kieren who was a member of this forum and he reckoned that he could birdy it.

He spent a full day at Holyhead trying but without success.
