Give people a chance, this forum does move quite slowly but the advice is good when it does come.
Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes fishing. |

Hi speedy where you going on your hols,if its in the summer you could do some bass fishing then your carp gear would be good for spinning. How much do you have to spend on rods and wot type of fishing are you going to be doing. ALZ |

hi al
cheers for reply i am going to goa for 3 weeks on xmas day ! i am in the process of buying an apartment there so will be leaving my tackle there will need carp gear for back home so might as well get beachcasters not sure about reels be it big pit or multipliers only used a multi from a boat before, the main problem i have is the size of the section's with rods for getting on plane budget wise about £200 for 2 rods and reels but if can get cheaper all the better but dont want rubbish. will pay a bit more than £200 if needed though.the sea is very rough around goa so think i need something pretty tough that can cact well same with reels

So you don't want rubbish but you want cheap mate? Well I just bought a chinese all carbon 12' beachcaster from ReelDeals.co.uk and am very pleased with what I got. OK so the finish is not soopah doopah but I am not a tackle tart, I just want to catch fish, so what it looks like doesn't matter to me. There are plenty of folk around who seem to believe that if you don't spend at least £80, you won't catch fish, I am not that stupid and I can cast said rod at least 150yds which is good enough for me. |

You say you're buying an apartment in Goa so I assume you've been there before, and - as taking two rods and reels on the plane might cost more in excess baggage - I wonder if you'd be better off seeing if there are any to buy in Goa itself?
If not, I'm sure there are plenty of people here who will advise you - I'd agree with Eccles myself though, there are lots of good rods around at good prices...

yes i have been before and rods are very difficult to get hold of you have to go way out of area,i was hoping to get a 3 section rod and try my luck at airport as for reels and tackle i dont usually carry hand luggage so will be ok there,i understand there are lots of rods to choose from was hoping of a few recommendations around say £70 mark ? and will i be better with fixed reels or multipliers if multi again something to suit for around £50 mark as i can get good pit reels for that
cheers |

Ok, well if you're trying your luck at the airport, I can personally recommend one of the Penn PowerStix 3pce rods - I have the 13' one - it's rung for both F/S and Multiplier and casts 4-6oz. I used it on holiday last year and was impressed - I got mine for £70 (in this month's Sea Angler Veals have it at £75). Just one thing tho - the length of the rods when in the rod bag is about 4ft 8inches.... |
