i dont know much but you are probably letting go of the line to early in your swing or whatever its called. to get more distance try leting go a little later so you get more distance and less height. |

Hi daip, without seeing you cast its hard to know what you are doing wrong, the only advice i could give you is to look on youtube there are lots of casting videos on there, i hope they help. |

hi, daip
you could try what geggy said try letting go of your line a bit later in the cast also make sure your drop from your lead isn't to long, i usually have my lead no further down than the top of my reel, but half the rod length suits off the ground/overhead casting well i thinkalso would be best to check you tube as it has some casting vids as welchy said also if you are fishing next/near somone else ask them for advice/help while you are down fishing most people will give you some tips and help.
hope you crack it soon
Carl. |

I am using a mutli and fixed spool. Reason being when i get a birds nest with multi i can use the fixed to carry on fishing. |

Actually I'm in Blackpool so not near wales sorry.
best tip I can give is pick a spot in the sky..a cloud or something well above the horizon and aim for that.
dont try to launch it to the isle of man..just practise short range and gradually increase it. Find an empty field you can cast a plain 5oz lead in.
I think ppl become obsessed with distance..and I think ther prob casting over more fish than they catch lol.
Hope this helps Buck |

another thing that may help you even more is the line from your weight to you hook shouldnt be too long as that can reduce the length of your cast.
nice going you will improve alot after every session

50 yards and no birds nest is better than 100 yards and a birds nest that stops you fishing.
Just remember when using a multiplier to keep your eye on the wegiht and just as it hits the water stop the spool with your thumb to prevent it over running (birds nest) or a sec or two before.
I've only been using multipliers a short time there are far more experienced ppl out there, but I have to say I find it much better..and not due to more distance..I just find a multi easier to use than fixed spool. |
